I don’t usually go to FoxNews.com, but today — October 24, 2008 — I wanted to see what they had to say about the mugging hoax by a McCain volunteer. Instead, I found the following top national headlines:
Hmmm, isn’t there like an economic crash, two wars, and — what do you call it? — oh, yeah, a Presidential election going on?
Meanwhile, the top two stories over at NationalEnquirer.com are about Cindy McCain and Joe Biden.
If ignorance is bliss, then Fox News is the happiest place on earth.
Ah now look – the big story with the mugging hoax is that the Pittsburgh police are apparently rounding up random muggers to see if they are in fact smarter than the out-of-town McCain campaigners wandering the strip district.
Yes that’s just a joke in poor taste.
On the other hand when I went to the little search engine that could to learn
more I ended up at the the Weekly Standard:
https://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2008/10/this_is_disgraceful.asp
Where the post closes with:
“The hate crime hoax is not a new phenomenon, but it’s fairly rare on our side of the ideological spectrum.”
and my head almost ‘sploded.
So while Fox might not be covering this at least they aren’t implying that hate crime hoaxes are ‘less than rare’ on the other side of the political spectrum.
hahah yeah i found a similar thing on Cnet recently. You might remember the iphone release?
